This sermon explores how true love for others flows out of God’s love for us. Jesus summed up the law with the command to love God and love others (Matthew 22:37-40). We are only able to love because God first loved us (1 John 4:19-21). That love is expressed through service, the visible sign of God’s love working in us. Jesus taught that remaining in Him—the true vine—produces a life of fruit, which is seen in serving others (John 15:1-17). While people who don’t know God can still do good works, Christian love and service are different because they reflect a bigger picture: the love and mission of Jesus. The call is to ask, see, and meet people with the love that overflows from abiding in Christ.
