HOW TO READ THE BIBLE
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for
reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the
man (or woman) of God may be complete, equipped for every good
work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17, ESV)
Ask yourselves the following questions as you read this week’s
Bible passage…
What is God asking me to believe?
What is God asking me to do?
How is God preparing me to live more effectively for
him?

THIS WEEK: “God Knows What He’s Doing – Pt. 2”
Romans 11:1-36
This week’s message concludes a tough section of Paul’s letter
(chapters 9-11) where he delves into how Israel fits into God’s plan
in the world.
1. What are some of the ideas you are familiar with about Israel’s
role in world events?
2. David’s message begins by taking a look at the bigger picture of
who God is and what God’s work is. (Romans 11:33-36; John 3:16)
Why is this important to be able to properly understand the Bible?
3. A key to interpreting and understanding this chapter is
determining what Paul means by “Israel.” Read Romans 4:16-17,
9:6-8 and 11:26. From the larger context of Paul’s letter, what can
we determine Paul means by who is “Israel?”
4. How could Gentiles being reconciled to God make the Jews
jealous? To what end? How could salvation of the Gentiles result in
arrogance on their part? What is the warning Paul gives? (11:19-21)
5. Read 1 Corinthians 10:12. How do these warnings relate to
each other?
6. How are both kindness and severity reflections of God’s
character of love? (11:22)
7. The underlying message of this chapter is the same as throughout the letter to the Roman church – a life connected to God is a life
of faith, nothing more, nothing less. What does this mean for you
personally? How are you living a life of faith?
8. Of the four things the message talked about of How Then
Should We Live, where are you strongest? Where do you need to
grow? What can you do this week to grow in your life of faith?
BEING “ON MISSION”
At Cold Springs Church we talk about being “on mission” together.
As Jesus followers, we are called to “go.”
At Cold Spring Church we talk about our “One More…” That
person who may be far from God, whom he has placed in our life
to pray for, care for and share with. In order to do so, you must
know them, their needs and concerns. In short, we are called to
enter into relationship… to genuinely love. What is something you
will do this week to reach out to your “One More?”
