Next Steps
Here at Cold Springs Church we believe that no matter where we are in our faith there is always a next step for us to take. “Next Steps” are our foundational faith commitments here at Cold Springs Church.
We recognize and believe that our life with Jesus doesn’t end after these “next steps,” as we are all continuously on a journey growing our faith. As our Worship Center wall says, “Free to be who we are, BEING transformed into all God created us to be.”
Having a personal relationship with Christ is like having a relationship with anyone else. Knowing about Him is not the same as knowing Him personally. At Cold Springs Church we talk about the A-B-C’s of coming to faith. Without short-selling the profound reality of spiritual regeneration, we want to present the components of salvation in a simple and transferable way.
A
ADMIT
Admit that you are a sinner who needs a Savior. Owning up to our sin describes the Greek concept of confession. That’s the meaning of the word homologeo (Gr.), “to agree with.” So when you confess, you’re agreeing with God that you’re not just a sinner but that your sin has placed you in eternal jeopardy. At some point, every one of us has to reach a point where we finally admit that.
B
BELIEVE
Believe that Jesus is the only Savior available. The Bible says that salvation is found in no one else. No one else! If you need someone to save you from your failures (and we all do), you’ll draw from a short list of candidates. A really short list. Many others may have made the claim, but there is only one bona fide Savior— Jesus. You need to believe that.
C
CHOOSE
Choose to follow Christ, to place your faith in Him alone. Repentance (metanoia, Gr.) requires that you make a conscious choice, actually change your mind about the way you’re going to live the rest of your life. It means that you scoot out of the driver’s seat of your life and let Jesus sit there instead.
"Say Yes"
Are you ready to "Say Yes"? Here is a helpful prayer.
DEAR JESUS,
Today I admit I am broken – I have sinned against you and against others, which has broken our relationship. As much as I have tried to fix things myself, I know my way isn’t working and that I need a savior.
I want to tell you I believe in you and I believe you are the Son of God. I believe you lived, died and are now alive. I believe you can save me and it is only through your grace I can be made right with God. Nothing I do will make you love me more than you already do.
Today I commit to follow you as much as I know how. I don’t understand everything but I do believe you love me and you will lead my life. So I choose to follow where you lead.
Please come into my life by your Holy Spirit, to be with me forever.

Starting Point

BAPTISM is an important step in your spiritual journey and is a way to publicly identify yourself as a follower of Jesus Christ.
When we begin to put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, we follow his call to be baptized and confess our commitment to him publicly. In baptism, we confess our belief that Jesus died, was buried, and has risen. We also demonstrate that our old life has died, been buried, and we have been raised to live a new life following Jesus. (Romans 6:4)
